Our bodies hold our lifetime of experiences.
Sometimes talk is not enough.
If you experience emotionally overwhelming moments with unwanted and uncontrollable reactions to everyday events, then you may be experiencing implicit emotional memories from past trauma whether physical, mental, emotional, or neglect. These emotions are not conscious, so they occur without awareness or an ability to control them. Our work begins by helping you regulate your body-breath system to enable mindful awareness, then focusing on your present-day patterns of problematic reactions to identify the change you want and need. Embodied self-awareness both clarifies the problems we present in psychotherapy and evolves our inherent skills to address them.
After sixteen years of practicing and then training yoga therapy, I have advanced skills to help you stabilize your nervous system and mindfully notice your moment-by-moment experiences – both inside and out. Through this process, you learn these skills of self-regulation to practice in your everyday life as your trauma reactions are triggered. You also learn to achieve a state of dual awareness (a.k.a., mindfulness), which will allow cognitive processing of your trauma triggers without the need to narrate details of those events and risk worsening your symptoms through re-
trauma. We move at your pace, whatever that needs to be to remain on the safe side of your edges of "ok" and keep you in a curious, present-
moment perspective that will allow learning and change to happen.
I am a Colorado Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and an IAYT-Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) with sixteen years of deeply immersed experience studying, guiding, teaching, and mentoring these subtle skills of embodied awareness and of observing its value in therapy. I specialize in attachment and relational trauma using somatic, relational, and cognitive therapies, and I welcome an opportunity to provide an initial consultation free of charge to answer your questions and help decide if my approach is a fit for you.
